TAGANGA
- SANTA MARTA HOTELS

The
Ballena Azul (The Blue Whale) was founded
over twenty-nine years ago by a French Colombian. It's a beach front,
family hotel built and designed for those who love nature and peace.
Located in the picturesque fishing village of Taganga, ten minutes from
Santa Marta's center, the Ballena Azul offers its guests an escape from
the hectic rhythm of day-to-day life.
Located
on the edge of Tayrona National Park, Taganga is the ideal place to
stay for those who want to do excursions by land or sea. From Taganga,
you can organize expeditions and plan backpacking and trekking trips
to the Sierra Nevada of Santa Marta.
Here,
we're true trekking pioneers. From here, we can help organize a trip
to "Pueblito" and "The Lost City" -- the latter
being the last pre-Colombian city discovered over 200 years ago. These
two archeological sites that are five hours away (Pueblito) and five
days walking round trip (The Lost City) offer an unparallelled adventure
for those who love backpacking, archeology, and discovery.

Location:
Blue
Doors the Ballena Azul Hotel is located in Taganga. Taganga is a small
fishing village north of Santa Marta in a cove surrounded by mountains
with modest lodging options. You can get to Taganga in taxi or mini-bus
(route "Taganga.") The road to Taganga takes you over hills
in a windy path. It's the perfect first view of the beautiful countryside
from both sides. Traditionally, Taganga is a village of fishermen. These
fishermen have kept the traditions of their ancestors alive. From Taganga,
you can take a speed boat to Playa Grande (Big Beach), famous for its
golden sand and beautiful beaches.

TAGANGA SANTA MARTA COLOMBIA
Taganga
is one of the most authentic populations on the northern coast of Colombia.
Its inhabitants are kind and open, the beaches are wide, clean, and
covered with fine sand. Here, visitors can enjoy walking through the
beautiful abandoned fishermen boats of the past -- colorful boats that
dot sandy beaches with a sense of history and tradition. The sea is
crystal blue. In Colombia, no other place has such natural and historical
beauty, peace, and the deep blue sea in a picturesque Caribbean refuge.

Blue
Doors The Ballena Azul has thirty bedrooms with a diagonal view of the

Food:
Blue
Doors The Ballena Azul Hotel is known for its phenomenal gastronomy.
It has a restaurant for 50 people. It's specialty is sea food, though
it also offers an extensive menu of meats that come from the savannas
of Bolivar. The most popular foods, among others, are coconut rice,
egg arepas, fried plantain, ñame (typical root of the region),
and bollo limpio (a typical tortilla from the region). Moreover, we
have one of the best creperies in the region.
